Getting your home sold in Greater Cleveland and Northeast Ohio!

It is not secret that the Greater Cleveland real estate market has its peaks and valleys, and that in order to profit with selling a home you need to manage the buying and selling of property just right.
What do you do when you want to sell your home as quickly as possible, and the market is low?
Here are some basic tips to sell your home in these conditions:
  1. Be realistic about the sale price. In a slow market, prospective buyers are looking for bargains. Work fully with your real estate agent, to determine the best asking price for your particular market.
  2. Resist the urge to sell your house on your own. “For Sale By Owner” is not a successful strategy in a slow market, since you may lack the resources to expose your house to as many buyers as possible. A knowledgeable and experienced real estate agent is an invaluable resource when it comes to marketing your home in Greater Cleveland.
  3. Keep your home “show ready” 24 hours a day – 7 days a week. A clean, spotless and uncluttered home sells more quickly because prospective buyers are able to imagine themselves living in your home more easily. This is especially important in a slow market, where there is a lot of competition for buyers.
  4. Hire a “home stager”. This is a professional who can come into your home and stage it to appeal to prospective buyers. These services often pay for themselves when it come to getting a higher price for your home.
  5. Repair everything. Even the smallest details can turn off a buyer, and no one wants to move into a house knowing that repairs will be needed immediately. Talk with licensed real estate agent to determine which items need to be fixed before your house can realistically sell.
Most of all it is important to be patient in this slow real estate market. You never know when trends will shift and prospective buyers will start linking up to see your home. Just be ready for them!

Ohio’s population up, Cleveland’s down

Ohio's population increased 1.6% between 2000 and 2010. That's good news. The bad news is Northeast Ohio's population is down for the same time period. More and more people are moving from big cities and settling in outlying areas. Franklin county was the only urban county to see growth in Ohio.

Cleveland needs to refocus it's energy on attracting people to the region. We have a wealth of cultural offerings. Great recreation, the MetroParks, three major sports franchises and the lake. Great education - Cleveland State, John Carroll, Case Western Reserve, Kent State and the University of Akron just to name a few within 30 minutes of Cleveland. Top notch health systems - the Cleveland Clinic and University Hospitals.

What does Cleveland need to do to reverse this shrinking trend?
